Biography

Sara Baker has lived in Ada County for 31 years. She and her husband, Joel Specht, recently sold their successful business they had operated in the Treasure Valley for 22 years., From 1985 to 2001, Sara was a Boise City Councilperson. During that time she was Council President and Acting Mayor. She was a member of the Capitol City Development Corporation from 1985 to 1993 during which time the downtown of Boise was successfully turned around from its twenty years of vacant lots and deteriorated buildings.

Sara also was a member of the Ada County Air Quality Board and was chair of the Air Quality Board for one term.

Sara is a 1975 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Political Science and has completed Master’s coursework in urban planning at Virginia Tech.

Sara is a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Community and has two grown children.
